Workshop Description: This Deep Dive workshop will be developed, in consultation with the school, to present a wide range of activities and processes aimed at deepening pupil engagement in learning. The day will demonstrate how a pupil’s classroom experience can be transformed with tried and tested approaches underpinned by research. Using Costa and Kallick’s Habits Of Mind as a roadmap - staff will participate in a number of activities that will demonstrate how problem solving activities, games, classroom drama and competition can enhance their pupils' learning experience.
Target Audience: Anyone in school including teachers, teaching assistants, headteachers, leaders, pastoral teams, Senco's and/or whole school staff. Sessions can also be adapted for groups of parents or older students wanting to apply this to revision strategies.
How:Available as a whole or half day INSET, series of twilights, individual or small group consultation.

Trainer: Peter Short. Peter Short has been working in education for over 25 years. He is currently a senior teacher in a high performing London primary school, leading on thinking skills and educational research. He has worked as an advisor in a London Borough and taught in both primary and secondary schools as well advising overseas educational organisations. He holds an M.Phil from Exeter University in Education.
