Workshop Description: This workshop will show, practically and theoretically, how philosophical enquiry can not only inspire but also advance and enrich questioning and thinking across the curriculum. The day will include reference to, and practice in, other strands in Dialogue Works’ philosophical teaching-and-learning strategy, not least dialogue and reflection, as well as a brief introduction to the metacognitive scheme, Thinking Moves A – Z.
Target audience: Schools and teachers in any phase who are attracted to the notion of improving their own classroom questioning skills with the purpose of improving pupil’s critical and creative thinking.
How: Available as a whole or half day depending on location

Trainer: Roger Sutcliffe. Roger is one of the world’s leading authorities on P4C and philosophical education. He is currently president of Dialogue Works, author of Thinking Moves A-Z and was the founder and President of SAPERE, the UK charity promoting P4C, and President of ICPIC, the International Council for Philosophical Inquiry with Children. He graduated in Philosophy and Modern Languages at Oxford, and has taught at primary and secondary level. He trained in P4C under Professor Lipman. Roger is an outstanding facilitator of dialogue, with both large audiences and small groups.
