Our Approach - The Big Picture

Our approach is centred around the training of educators to use a pedagogy which enables students to master a range of thinking skills and intelligent learning behaviours. But our approach is so much more than training….

We differ from traditional training providers by taking a bigger picture view of your organisation and its cognitive development ambitions. We listen in order to understand your starting point and your end goal. Thinking Matters draws its Thinking Schools Model from cognitive neurosciences and learning theory. It is backed by research-based practices and proven classroom models for applied thinking and offers an effective, efficient way of developing all students' thinking skills. The approach is whole school, student centred and evidence based.

Equally, we advocate the need for there to be a joined up understanding of the science of learning, the role of the teacher (the cognitive coach) and the social and emotional elements that play an essential role in successful lifelong learning.  We've encompassed the main elements of this in the Thinking Matters Big Picture - see below:
